Badian Island / Resort and Spa

Badian Island is another Island with only one Resort on it. Badian contains to the Municipality of Moalboal. You can reach the island in 3 hours starting at the Cebu international airport. First you can take a taxi to the west coast where you change on a banka.

The natural beauty of the island - with its picturesque location just off the Southwest Coast of Cebu - warmly embraces its visitors on their arrival. Here, the resort’s lush palms speckle the private sandy beach that slowly slips into the azure lagoon. A white tongue of sand whisks you out into an inspiring world between heaven and ocean. Fishing outriggers slip silently past the enchanting silhouette of the Mountains of Cebu, an atmosphere worth more than ten thousand words.

Manamoc is a small island in the Sulu-Sea. You can reach the island per boat directly from palawan.
Another possibility is to fly to amanpulo and take a 30 minute banca-ride from there.

manamoc island map (based on google maps)

Not many people visit this small community of fishermen, which adds to its charm.

It is a remote island with a developing tourist infrastructure and despite being difficult to get to, it is popular with tourists from all over the world who hope to get away from it all. With the exception of its stunning beaches, there is not much to see here, however.

If you want to experience the local fishing community, Manamoc is a great place to visit and the locals will make you feel incredibly welcome. There are bars and restaurants catering to local tastes and a small cluster of accommodation. Those who stay here are generally people who like to get off the beaten track and spend time with local people.

Bantayan island is a relative big island in the north-west of Cebu.

Bantayan island, the shining tropical paradise in Asia is commonly known as an island paradise in Philippines. Tourists fall in love with its fine white sand and crystal clear blue water. Many of these foreigners even settled down on the island to spend the rest of their lives. They build single-cottage beach houses along the shore but as time went by, construct a couple of new cottages instead to accommodate the growing number of tourists who seeks safe haven on the splendid island paradise. Two of the main attraction of the island is its crystal-clear waters and it's long stretch of powdery white sand. The stunning sunset will really spice those romantic walks on the beach. One of the reasons the island is famous is its peacefulness, the way a resort should be. Unsaturated beauty and a combination of sweet smiling natives made the island as it is now.

When you get to cool, crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, pleasant town folk and delicious sea foods ... you're in the island of Bantayan. Coming to Bantayan is like coming out of a time machine. It's like entering the time and place when life was simple and quiet.
The island, which is composed of three municipalities, specifically Bantayan, Madridejos & Santa Fe is also generally known as the “Egg Basket” in the neighboring regions because it has been generating over one and a half million eggs a day to supply the growing demand of eggs for mainland Cebu, Negros, Panay and even Leyte.

In Bantayan, there are a 405-year-old church, the one-and-a-half century house of Anun Escario, the Ogtong Cave and the rest of the ancient unarmed caves the old Spanish kota (fort) in Sta. Fe, the beautiful island in the district and the sunset at the pier.

The people in Bantayan island are mostly Christian, aside from the fact that it has the oldest church in the Visayas and Mindanao, it is also named as the Lenten capital of the Visayas. Many people from Cebu and as far as Manila go to Bantayan not only for a swim and relaxation but also to witness the holy week procession and to observe the most solemn practice of faith. Because of this, almost all resorts double their rates at this time of year.

During holy week, on Maunday Thursday and Good Friday, both locals and visitors get together by the thousands at the town center of Bantayan to be part of the Lenten procession of religious symbols and images symbolizing the Passion of Christ. Such religiosity only reflects the Bantayanon's unquestioned faith in Christ therefore making the island one of the safest place in the country.

Like its dialect, each of the three towns has its own character. Bantayan considered as the town proper of the island has 25 barangays and the basic infrastructure. The town is known for its mouth-watering dried fish and squid. Aside from fishing, the people are also into rock phosphate and limestone mining.

Amanpulo Island Resort

Hello to all

For this post, i'll excuse me already know. Most readers of this blog aren't in a position to pay just 2 nights in a hotel like that. But, like the Blog-URL say's, it would be a dream there.

map based on google maps

Unfortunately you can't find a lot of information about this island. Because of that, i need to copy paste the text of the Resorts website.

Amanpulo is situated in one of the world’s most idyllic island locations on the staggeringly beautiful Pamalican Island in the Philippines. It is a private island, gifted with nature’s paradisiacal treats: powder white beaches, clear turquoise-azure-indigo seas, cirrus-streaked cerulean skies, and a polychromatic coral reef only 300m from the shore.
Amanpulo is an escape from the markings of mankind and is a dive into island life where nature has been unashamedly boastful. The island is secluded, being private, and offers a variety of sea, sand and tropical island-retreat–pleasures, in exclusive comfort and in traditionally styled accommodation. Amanpulo or, ‘peaceful island’, honours its island host, respecting the natural elements with a profoundly ‘South Seas’ interpretation. The 40 Beach, Hillside and Treetop Casitas are modelled on authentic bahay kubo dwellings, each with its own golf cart for island exploration.
This romantically remote island caters for those who wish to ‘hammock’ and beach comb their days in paradise, and for those who seek an active agenda, involving a myriad of maritime adventures as well as tennis, a high-tec air-conditioned gym, and taking languid lengths in the resort’s 30m serene pool. The open-air Garden and Beach Salas are discreetly secluded for pleasurable holistic body treatments.

Apo Island

Apo Island is a volcanic island covering 12 hectares  in land area, 7 kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island.

based on google maps

The marine habitat around the island is a marine reserve, protected by the National Integrated Protected Area Act and under the jurisdiction of the Protected Area Management Board. It has become a popular dive site and snorkeling destination with tourists. There are two resorts on Apo Island, both of which have their own dive centers: Apo Island Beach Resort and Liberty's Lodge.
In 2007 the Island had a populution of 745.

Apo Island is one of the world's best known community-organized marine sanctuaries, and as such it has been well documented by the global science community. The project was started when Dr. Angel Alcala, a marine scientist from the Silliman University Marine Laboratory explained to the local fishermen the importance of creating a marine sanctuary in the area. Initially, there was hesitation on the part of the locals; but after a 3-year dialogue, Dr. Alcala was able to convince the island community to establish the sanctuary. Assisted by the staff of the SU Marine Laboratory in 1982, the local fishermen selected an area along 450 meters of shoreline and extending 500 meters from shore as the sanctuary site. Since then, the project initiated on the island led to the creation of hundreds of other marine sanctuaries in the Philippines.

Apo Island is mainly interesting for Divers. You can reach a lot of great divespots directly from the beach, or within 10 minutes with a boat. Because of that, i can't show you a lot of beach pictures from there.

Pandan Island

Pandan Island is a private resort island located on the east of Palawan in the Honda Bay.

Based on google maps

Facing the South China Sea, halfway on the coastal road between Mamburao and San Jose, lays the small fishing town of Sablayan. Off its coast, only a twenty minutes boat ride away, is Pandan Island, a 12 ha big tropical island. Having been uninhabited for many years, this paradise was "discovered" by a French adventurer, who established Pandan Island Resort in 1986.
Most of Pandan Island is still covered by primeval  forest abundant with all different kinds of birds and butterflies. Two secluded beaches, Wild Lagoon and Spanish Nose, invite to spend an afternoon away from it all and feel a little  bit like Robinson.
If you like to be more active you may go scuba diving, join a kajak trip to one of the jungle rivers nearby, play volleyball, pool or darts  and of course petanque.

The resort consists of sixteen clean and simple bungalows, a restaurant, a beach bar and a dive center. The bungalows are all built from native materials and care has been taken to create a simple yet comfortable atmosphere, with a lot of privacy and nature around each cottage.  There is no generator on the island, all electricity needed to run the lights is produced by a solar system (12V), installed in each cottage. 220 V are available for charging the   batteries of your video camera or flash.
There is a internet point on the island as well as a WiFi connection if you bring your own device.

Blond Island

Well, sorry for that entry here, but its a post worth!

A Lithuanian company plans to create a paradise vacation island in the Maldives staffed solely by blonds.

If the exclusive spa resort gets the go-ahead, it will have a no-brunette policy and hopes to attract tourists from around the world and also dispel stereotypes about blonds being dumb.

Blonde
The company behind the blond ambition, Olialia, officially unveiled its plans this weekend and hopes to offer direct flights and a yacht service to the island, also staffed and operated entirely by blonds.

"Blonds are a great power that should not be underestimated," the Olialia group's Giedre Pukiene told the Maldives Traveller. "We are smart, beautiful, reckless and purposeful."

The company, which already has a blond-only policy, has a diverse array of business interests from a limo and bus service to ice cream and Lithuanian nightclubs.

The resort is due to open in 2015 but the proposal could run into trouble as laws in the Maldives state that islands should hire 50% locals, who are nonwhite and nonblond.

The idea has sparked widespread criticism from groups branding the idea racist.

In its defense, the company says it does not discriminate but that brunettes often find themselves reaching for a bottle of hair bleach after spending time around so many blonds.

"We find that when women with dark hair work here, they are surrounded by all these beautiful blonds, so eventually they end up going blond too," Pukiene said.

The Maldives are a group of more than 1,000 islands in the Indian Ocean. About 200 are inhabited.

Panglao Island

Welcome to the new week on on Island Blog

Today we go on with another philippine island: Panglao

Panglao is an island in the Philippines located in the Central Visayas. Panglao is located southwest of the island of Bohol and in the east of Cebu.

based on google maps

Well, I wasn't in Panglao until now, so i can't tell you a lot about.
The most beutiful beach in Panglao is the Dumaluan Beach, followed by the Alona Beach 2km southernly. Those Beach are in southeast of Panglao. At the Dumaluan Beach are only two hotels. The Dumaluan Beach Resort 1 and 2 and the Bohol Beach Club. At the Bohol Beach Club they have a Dive base. Like i know, you can go there to dive also when you rest in the Dumaluan Beach Resort. Some other Dive Shops are located at the Alona Beach. One of the best Dive offerer on the island are the Sea Explorers. The Sea Explorers are located everywhere in the Central Visayas. You could also book a island hopping tour with them.

If you are some days in Panglao, you need to travel one day to Bohol for visiting the chocolate hills.

On the way to the chocolate hills you should open your eyes. With a bit of luck you'll see the "Bohol tarsier".
This is the second-smallest primate of the world.

Boracay Island, philippines

Boracay is an island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. In 1990, it was voted by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook as one of the best beaches in the world and again in 1996 by British publication TV Quick as the world's number one tropical beach.

Boracay is a typical tourist-island. What i mean with that? Take a look at this picture:

lot of people on the beach

My opinion is, that it's good to go there for some chillout-days at the beach. But after a few days, you should go on with your travel. The philippines got much more to give than just a beautiful beach! :)

Ok, get on with the positive things. If you'll pay a little bit more than just for the default hotels, go to the Boracay beach resort. It's a bit outside of the touristical main-stream. There you can find a lonely beach.

So, with all that facts i would say, its a travel worth. I think with following pictures you'll confirm my opinion.
